Libraries with abbreviations in a specific language
Dear Community,
I would like to suggest an improvement for the Abbreviations module.
In our company we use different languages for our manuals (English and Spanish). Currently, there is one unique library containing all abbreviations used in all manuals. We think it would be beneficial in this case to have more than one library, each one of them containing only Abbreviations in a specific language. Therefore, for example, the meaning of "CAME" would be in:
- English library --> Abbr. "CAME": Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition
- Spanish library --> Abbr. "MGAC": Manual de Gestión de Aeronavegabilidad Continuada
Please feel free to provide feedback for this idea.
Best regards,
Nazariy

Dear Nazariy,
Thank you for bringing this. I'd like to express my support for this idea.
We're still looking for an option to have two abbreviations with different meanings. Most of these abbreviations with two different meanings arise from the fact that we have the official EASA abbreviations on one hand and internal abbreviations on the other hand. Your solution would help to have them both properly gathered in a list.
Thank you very much!
Best Regards
Michel
Dear Michel,
Thank you for expressing your support for our idea.
Regarding a feature for multiple meanings for one abbreviation, we are also interested in it, one of the reasons being exactly what you explained. Please find below the answer we obtained from WM support about it, you might already be aware of this information:
"We will be adding the option to have the same abbreviation multiple times but with different definitions. That is a thing which is rather high on our priority list.
We do already have this logged as an improvement ticket where customers would like the ability to have the same acronym in both definitions and abbreviations which I have now included in the subject above. (MANUALS-3872)
The team has come up with a workaround which is to create a definition with a space before the actual acronym "RA" --> " RA". Unfortunately, this will not work on abbreviations, only on definitions. So create the definition " RA" with space and the abbreviation as usual "RA", in order to have the same acronym.
Also, at present, the abbreviations system is not able to provide more than one definition per abbreviation.
I would like to let you know that this is planned to be introduced in the future, but at this stage, I am not able to say when this will be.
I have included the improvement ticket number in the subject above (MANUALS-5206). In this way, we can update you when we have more news on this feature to update you, and also, if you have any questions in the future on this subject, you can quote this improvement ticket as a reference."
I hope you find this information useful.
Best regards,
Nazariy
