Synchronize EFB App Settings with the Admin Portal
Background
Currently, the Edit Category settings configured in the Admin Portal do not synchronize with the EFB application. For example, I have configured the Default Sorting for a category to Revision Date in the Admin Portal, however this change is not reflected in the EFB app.
Instead, the sorting preference must be configured manually on each individual iPad. Furthermore, every time the EFB application is closed and reopened, the sorting reverts to its default setting, requiring users to manually select their preferred sorting option again.
Product Idea
The EFB application and the Admin Portal should operate as a single, synchronized ecosystem. Configuration changes made by administrators in the Admin Portal should automatically be reflected in the EFB application.
From an administrator's perspective, the purpose of centrally managing settings is to ensure a consistent experience across all users. If administrative changes are not propagated to the EFB app, the value of managing these settings centrally is significantly reduced, as each device must still be configured individually.
Expected Behaviour
- Settings configured in the Admin Portal (e.g., Default Sorting, View Options) should automatically synchronize with the EFB app.
- The EFB app should honor the administrator defined default settings on all managed devices.
- User sessions should retain these synchronized settings after the application is closed and reopened.
- The Admin Portal should remain the single source of truth for configuration, ensuring a consistent and standardized experience across all users and devices.
This enhancement would greatly improve usability, reduce administrative overhead, eliminate inconsistent user experiences, and ensure that the Admin Portal serves its intended purpose as the central management platform for the EFB application.
Comments
Good morning Dayan,
Respectfully, I don't think our EFB users would welcome this and if enacted, I can see them constantly requesting our admins to amend the sorting as to how they wish it to look for their preferred EFB set up. Sorry. Best regards, Pete
