Document upload via e-mail
A bit strange but maybe worth looking into.
I thought about a function where a user can send an e-mail with a PDF as attachment to a specific mail address, that is connected to our Webmanuals site. By sending it there, the attachment will automatically be uploaded in a separate section in Webmanuals. An Admin or editor can then take the document and move it to a different section for storage or whatever. This could come in handy if a user is supposed to send in training documents or Fuel slips or any document that comes up during operation. Maybe even Techlogs or other logs. This all includes a function where specific people will then get notified that a document has been uploaded via e-mail.

Hi Matthias,
I like the idea, but I understand that system and commercial limitations exist.
Firstly, some definitions are required when creating a document, such as Document Type and Revision Date. Filling up these options automatically could be solved through an email setting if an "upload-via-email" feature existed.
Secondly, and I believe this is the main obstacle, one must be an editor or admin to be able to upload or create documents in Web Manuals. As you know, this is a different type of licence.
Best regards,
