Update distribution categories from outside document settings
From a user perspective, it does not make much sense having to necessarily open a document to verify or update the distribution categories.
It would be much more effective if that were possible from outside, i.e. from the list of documents. I believe this is a fair point, considering that it is possible to even archive a document from outside its settings.
However, I understand that WM probably prefers to have it only in the document's settings, as an additional safety layer to prevent editors from updating distribution categories by mistake or anytime at will.
Could this potentially be an admin setting someday?

Thank you for your insight and perspective.
You are completely right, on all counts. It is applied in the current state for safety measures. That said, we have evolved a lot over the last 10 years and It is about time we start looking into making it easier to control what categories documents are available in.
We have a development ticket on this already, I have added your perspective, and pushed it up further in the pipe. MANUALS-4286
I have a hope that we will have an improvement to this released during this year.
