How to Add a Definition to your Manual

The Definitions module automates the listing of aviation terms and their descriptions used in your manuals. It is similar to our abbreviations module that lists acronyms; however, the Definitions module allows for the use of complete words and phrases. Read on below to learn how to use this feature.
  1.  To use the Definitions feature in your Manual, the term must first be added to the Definitions area of your Site. The image below depicts how to access the Definitions area of your Site.

  1. Once you've opened the Definitions tab, you will be able to view, add, remove, and edit Definitions. To add Definitions in bulk, download our template Excel spreadsheet by clicking on the "Actions" button in the lower left-hand corner (see image below). Once the spreadsheet is completed, you can upload it (also via the "Actions" button), after which the terms will appear on your site.
  2. To add a term individually, click on the green "Add" button in the lower right-hand corner.

Using the Definitions Module in a Document:
  1. To use the Definitions feature in a Manual, you will first need to add a Definition to a text section. To do this, navigate to the Editor toolbar and click on the "Insert Definition" icon. Choose the Definition you'd like to include in your text section. Once you add a Definition, the system will be able to autopopulate it in the Definitions Module, which is a list of all Definitions used in your Document.

  2.  To add a Definitions Module, click on the Add Module icon. Select "Definitions" from the dropdown list.
  1. A pop-up window will appear. This window allows you to configure your settings

NOTE:

  • Definitions cannot auto-convert in a test section as they do with abbreviations.
  • Currently, only plain text is supported — no bullet lists, numbered lists, or tables can be used in the Definition's Description.
