In this article, we'll be able to give you a brief overview of the Dashboard of the Web Manuals Reader for iPad.
This category shows groups of documents (tags) to highlight their importance and make them more easily accessible.
Operationally Critical Documents*
These are documents that are of critical importance when flying. This view polls the Operationally Critical Documents category, checks whether these have been downloaded to the device, and then displays the results.
These are documents that still need to be read. They could be new documents or existing documents that have been updated.
Shows the total amount of documents assigned to you, including any documents that have yet to be downloaded and updates available
Clicking View all on any of these boxes will take you to a comprehensive list of documents about that category.
*Operationally Critical Documents will only appear on the Dashboard when the Operationally Critical Category has been assigned to your role
When clicking on the Sidebar menu next to Dashboard, you can find the same categories in the reader: Unread, Operationally Critical, Documents, Compliance, Recent, and My documents.
Note: You may only see some of those categories or see different ones depending on your Dashboard and/or your role.
Clicking Dashboard will take you back to the Dashboard.
Shows the new documents or newly released revisions of documents that you still need to read.
Here you find all documents that have been marked as operationally critical and that are, therefore, crucial to your operations.
It shows all the categories and documents you have access to. From here, you can open documents, delete documents from the iPad, etc.
It opens a dialog that lists Compliance Libraries that are available to you, the requirements in each library, and the connections made to each requirement.
Display short information sent by Admins or Editors
Display a list of documents recently opened
Displays a list of all documents that you have added to this category for easy access. It can be done by clicking on the three dots next to a document, Add to My documents.
Clicking on the Documents button will open the categories tab, where you can browse and find the document you are looking for.
Displays the category name. Some categories have sub-categories, which will be revealed when tapping a category. There can be multiple levels of sub-categories.
Nr of documents inside of a category
The number to the right of some categories indicates how many documents are in that category. Categories without any number beside them show that the category has no direct child documents.
Indicates a published revision's name.
Clicking on three dots by your document name
- It will also show Add to My Documents, which, if clicked, will put the document in My Documents visible In the Dashboard menu (with a star icon). To remove a document from My Documents, Click on the star and click Remove from My Documents.
- It will show a DeleteDocument button that allows you to delete the selected document from the iPad's storage. Deleting a document only deletes it from the device storage, not the Web Manuals database. The document can be re-downloaded after deleting if connected to the internet.
Click Unread to view all the unread documents (it can be new or existing documents that have been updated).
By default, you check out the documents (remove them from the list of Unread documents) by opening, reading, and closing them. However, the system administrator can change to different checkout options, which other icons will show:
On active accept
The checkout option Accept means that the document requires a direct checkout. If activated, the button Accept will be available in the bottom right corner. You can tap it to confirm that you have read the document, and the document will be checked out.
The checkout option Quiz means that you have to complete a quiz before the document can be checked out. The Quiz button will be available if the current document requires this. Once pressed, you will be taken to the quiz.
The quiz contains questions related to the document, and if you answer enough questions correctly (the system administrator sets this), the document will be checked out.
Tapping the Search button on the blue bar in the top right corner will open up a window that allows you to search for documents and the contents within a document. It is possible to search for multiple words. By clicking on the filter, it is possible to sort results by Relevance or Title. Activating Exact match will only show results for content containing the exact word you typed.
For example, if I search for the word Limit, it shows three results, document with limitations, limited, and limit. Once the Exact match is ticked, the only result will be the document containing "Limit."
